About The Role

Your role will be to generate accurately scaled, simple 3D CAD models of residential interiors based on 2D floor plans and accompanying reference images. 

Deliverables will be in the form of native 3D files with geometry and scene hierarchies specifically tailored to our platform requirements. Success is measured by compliance with agreed upon turnaround times, spatial accuracy and adherence to our technical set up guidelines.

What You'll Do

Convert 2D Floor Plans Images -> 3D Extruded Geometry

  • Prep, import and apply scale factor to floor plan image files.

  • When needed, establish missing dimensions (i.e. estimated ceiling height) based on reference images.

  • Trace floor plan and extrude interior and exterior walls as shown.

  • Extrude floor and ceiling geometry.


Model Architectural Features

  • Model windows, doorways, pass-throughs and other cut-away features 

  • Locate and add fixed interior lighting sources (i.e. recessed lighting)

  • Model architectural detail as needed (moldings, HVAC, panels, etc)


Model Kitchen Geometry and Add Appliances

  • Model cabinets, countertops and islands in basic detail.

  • Insert 3D models of closest-match fixtures, appliances and hardware from a provided library of options.


Configure Assign Materials

  • Configure best-match materials based on referenced imagery (i.e. Oak floor board texture) from a provided library of PBR material files.

  • Apply materials to geometry, adjusting scale and mapping as needed.


Organize Geometry for Export

  • Set up properly labeled and organized scene hierarchy based on provided guidance.

  • Save and export file to a shared folder for review and acceptance.  

What You Need
  • Expert-level experience with mesh-based 3D CAD Modeling software. Native experience with Blender strongly preferred. 

  • Familiarity and ability to import, export and generally work with common 2D/3D file formats (e.g., Raster images, SVG, DXF, FBX, GLB/glTF).

  • Ability to access and use Google Drive and Dropbox.

Nice to Have
  • Specific experience in interior design 3D CAD projects 

  • 3D rendering and visualization experience.

  • Strong written communication skills in English.

  • Availability during East Coast US business hours.
